1 கள்ளத்தராசு கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; சுமுத்திரையான நிறைகல்லோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

2 அகந்தை வந்தால் இலச்சையும் வரும்; தாழ்ந்த சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களிடத்தில் ஞானம் உண்டு.

2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

3 செம்மையானவர்களுடைய உத்தமம் அவர்களை நடத்தும்; துரோகிகளின் மாறுபாடோ அவர்களைப் பாழாக்கும்.

3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4 கோபாக்கினை நாளில் ஐசுவரியம் உதவாது; நீதியோ மரணத்துக்குத் தப்புவிக்கும்.

4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

5 உத்தமனுடைய நீதி அவன் வழியைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தும்; துன்மார்க்கனோ தன் துன்மார்க்கத்தினால் விழுவான்.

5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 செம்மையானவர்களுடைய நீதி அவர்களைத் தப்புவிக்கும்; துரோகிகளோ தங்கள் தீவினையிலே பிடிபடுவார்கள்.

6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

7 துன்மார்க்கன் மரிக்கும்போது அவன் நம்பிக்கை அழியும்; அக்கிரமக்காரரின் அபேட்சை கெட்டுப்போம்.

7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

8 நீதிமான் இக்கட்டினின்று விடுவிக்கப்படுவான்; அவன் இருந்த இடத்திலே துன்மார்க்கன் வருவான்.

8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

9 மாயக்காரன் தனக்கு அடுத்தவனை வாயினால் கெடுக்கிறான்; நீதிமானோ அறிவினால் தப்புகிறான்.

9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10 நீதிமான்கள் நன்றாயிருந்தால் பட்டணம் களிகூரும்; துன்மார்க்கர் அழிந்தால் கம்பீரம் உண்டாகும்.

10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 செம்மையானவர்களுடைய ஆசீர்வாதத்தினால் பட்டணம் நிலைபெற்றோங்கும்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வாயினால் அது இடிந்து விழும்.

11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 மதிகெட்டவன் பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறான்; புத்திமானோ தன் வாயை அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.

12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13 புறங்கூறித் திரிகிறவன் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்; ஆவியில் உண்மையுள்ளவனோ காரியத்தை அடக்குகிறான்.

13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14 ஆலோசனையில்லாத இடத்தில் ஜனங்கள் விழுந்துபோவார்கள்; அநேக ஆலோசனைக்காரர் உண்டானால் சுகம் உண்டாகும்.

14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 அந்நியனுக்காகப் பிணைப்படுகிறவன் வெகு பாடுபடுவான்; பிணைப்படுவதை வெறுப்பவன் சுகமாயிருப்பான்.

15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16 நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ள ஸ்திரீ மானத்தைக் காப்பாள்; பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் ஐசுவரியத்தைக் காப்பார்கள்.

16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

17 தயையுள்ள மனுஷன் தன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு நன்மைசெய்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; கடூரனோ தன் உடலை அலைக்கழிக்கிறான்.

17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 துன்மார்க்கன் விருதாவேலையைச் செய்கிறான்; நீதியை விதைக்கிறவனோ மெய்ப்பலனைப் பெறுவான்.

18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 நீதி ஜீவனுக்கு ஏதுவாகிறதுபோல் தீமையைப் பின்தொடருகிறவன் மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாகிறான்.

19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

20 மாறுபாடுள்ள இருதயமுடையவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவர்கள்; உத்தம மார்க்கத்தாரோ அவருக்குப் பிரியமானவர்கள்.

20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21 கையோடே கைகோர்த்தாலும், துஷ்டன் தண்டனைக்குத் தப்பான்; நீதிமான்களுடைய சந்ததியோ விடுவிக்கப்படும்.

21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 மதிகேடாய் நடக்கிற அழகுள்ள ஸ்திரீ பன்றியின் மூக்கிலுள்ள பொன் மூக்குத்திக்குச் சமானம்.

22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 நீதிமான்களுடைய ஆசை நன்மையே; துன்மார்க்கருடைய நம்பிக்கையோ கோபாக்கினையாய் முடியும்.

23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 வாரியிறைத்தும் விருத்தியடைவாரும் உண்டு; அதிகமாய்ப் பிசினித்தனம்பண்ணியும் வறுமையடைவாரும் உண்டு.

24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 உதாரகுணமுள்ள ஆத்துமா செழிக்கும்; எவன் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சுகிறானோ அவனுக்குத் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சப்படும்.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 தானியத்தைக் கட்டிவைக்கிறவனை ஜனங்கள் சபிப்பார்கள்; விற்கிறவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் ஆசீர்வாதம் தங்கும்.

26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27 நன்மையை ஜாக்கிரதையுடன் தேடுகிறவன் தயையைப் பெறுவான்; தீமையைத் தேடுகிறவனுக்கோ தீமையே வரும்.

27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28 தன் ஐசுவரியத்தை நம்புகிறவன் விழுவான்; நீதிமான்களோ துளிரைப்போலே தழைப்பார்கள்.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 தன் வீட்டைக் கலைக்கிறவன் காற்றைச் சுதந்தரிப்பான்; மூடன் ஞானமுள்ளவனுக்கு அடிமையாவான்.

29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 நீதிமானுடைய பலன் ஜீவவிருட்சம்; ஆத்துமாக்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஞானமுள்ளவன்.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31 இதோ, நீதிமானுக்கு பூமியில் சரிக்கட்டப்படுமே; துன்மார்க்கனுக்கும் பாவிக்கும் எத்தனை அதிகம்.

31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
